The Alpine lodge was originally built by the Great Northern Railroad in 1939 for lodging winter snow removal railway workers. Izaak Walton Inn is the only lodge to remain open year around. The Inn now has 33 rooms, four caboose rentals and six family cabins. The Tudor Revival Inn is at the only flag stop (stops only if there are passengers to be picked up or dropped off) along the route of the Amtrak's Empire Builder. Ixaak Walton was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1985 and is privately owned. The Inn is located on US Highway 2 halfway between East and West Glacier.
